When my grandmother picked me and my parents up from the airport on the night we returned home, the first thing she asked was, "So did any of that feel like a vacation?". My parents and I simultaneously answered, "no". The truth was that this was not a vacation to Hollywood; it was work. Excruciating work that sometimes breaks your heart. It's a lot of pressure and a lot of stress, but when you put yourself through hard work, you come out stronger and more successful. This last week was an experience of a lifetime. I met amazing people that are also hard-working and successful in the music industry, as well as made friends with people from Germany, Ireland, Namibia, and the Philippines. I was able to make some incredible memories, and I have my heart set on making sure they're not just memories. I want to be an artist. I intend to make being singer/songwriter into a career. In the words of my friend Jeff Webber, a music producer in Los Angeles, "my 'plan B' sucks so bad I don't even have one". This is what I'm going to do with my life; and after this trip, I couldn't be more excited.
